Ashutosh annihilates Anuj for GKSC All-Odisha Open snooker title

Ashutosh Padhy lived up to his reputation as reigning state champion by winning the title in the 2nd GKSC All-Odisha Open Snooker Tournament here at Golden King Snooker Club today. Bhubaneswar cueist Ashutosh proved too hot to handle for first-time finalist Anuj Panda as he sailed to a 6-0 victory in the lop-sided final.

Ashutosh received a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while runner-up Panda was given Rs 5,000. Ashutosh also pocketed Rs 2,000 for his historic break of 96 in the semifinal which remained the highest break of the tournament. Prizes were given away by Golden King Snooker Club owner Gyana Ranjan Behera, Mahalaxmi Alankar & Sons proprietors Sanjeet Maharana and Satyajeet Maharana.

Earlier in the semifinals, unseeded Ashutosh rode on a historic break of 96 (state record) in the sixth frame to beat Rumit Gupta by 5-2 frames, while Anuj upset experienced Subrat Das by 5-1 frames. Golden King Snooker Club organised the tournament from August 4. The the six-day tournament was sponsored by Mahalaxmi Alankar and Mahalaxmi Alankar & Sons.
